It's been a while since I've updated my IJ and LJ accounts although I haven't been completely gone. I'm usually lurking quietly in the background reading all the wonderful gems posted by the Snarry,Snupin and Valvert communities. I have a great many reviews I need to leave, so that is one of my top three New Year's resolutions! I also intend to start writing more and have been working on a number of stories that I hope to post soon.
This past year has been one of the hardest I've ever had to face. In addiction to caring for my elderly mum, I've also been trying to find permanent work after the school I was teaching in for over a decade, had to give me the pink slip due to budget cuts. Add health problems which I am currently in treatment for, and I'm sure it's clear to see why I haven't been posting as much, although reading the many beautiful stories crafted by the IJ and LJ communities has been a joy that makes the load lighter.
Something else I've started doing is cross stitching. I use to stitch in my youth, but once I started college and then teaching, it fell to the wayside. Now that I have more time on my hands,I decided to to take it up once again and have been delighted with the response. Creating and selling my work on Etsy has definitely helped our income in addition to rediscovering a wonderful hobby I had long forgotten.
One of the first things I stitched this summer is the Snarry piece above. It sits proudly on my bedside table, and always puts a smile on my face as only our boys can. I stitched it on silvery 14 count aida(cross stitch fabric) that shimmers in any light as does the frame I picked for it, so the piece looks truly magical. I'm quite proud of it and wanted to share it with everyone.
The next piece I'm working on is a Harry Potter themed sampler:
I'll definitely post a full photo when it's complete!
